The 8th edition of Wine Festival started last Friday at the Porto Cervo Conference Center. For the first time, it takes place together with Food Festival. This event will gather wine connoisseurs and the best of Sardinian and Italian food production in the same venue, right at the beginning of the season in Costa Smeralda.
These days Porto Cervo is crowded with enthusiasts, wine experts and tourists who come to discover the latest innovations in the field of food and wine.
A list of participating companies can be found on portocervowinefestival and portocervofoodfestival.Right now, meeetings, book launches, tastings, gourmet dinners and masterclasses are taking place.
Patroness of this year’s edition is Bianca Atzei, who inaugurated the event together with the famous dog Palla, while Nina Zilli sung at the Gala Dinner on Saturday night at Cala di Volpe.
Today an early tasting at 11.00 am will take place.
The full program can be found on the web sites of the two events as well.
On Saturday, mingling with the crowd of “wine lovers” and professionals, I browsed through new and traditional products. I find the idea of merging wine and food a very smart move, because it allows tasting and trying at the same time.
The tour starts with wine at the Conference Center, where all wineries exhibit a wide range of wines, above all Vermentino di Gallura, highlight of Sardinia, and continues with food at the Tennis court of Hotel Cervo, where you can taste unmissable delicacies from the Sardinian food production and specialties from outside the island. In fact, here you can find not only local food such as cheese and carasau bread, but also water from Icelandic glaciers and truffle pop corn.
A wonderful tableau, drew by enthusiasts and experts, where producers and staff welcome you warmly and make you feel at home.
All in all, a wonderful experience and an interesting event, once again very successful, which is absolutely not to be missed.
PS: for those who cannot participate: don’t worry, I will lead you through the event, and if you cannot taste, no worries, I’ll do that for you…
